The hearts of Luton ladies were all a-flutter on Monday night when Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke put in an appearance at a fashion show. The show, organised by Esther Rantzen to raise funds for her election campaign, was held at the Riverside Suite at the Vauxhall Recreation Centre and showcased wedding, Ascot and smart casual fashions from Dunstable Road boutique Eleni's.
As well as feasting their eyes on the ladies smart casual, Ascot and Mother of the Bride wedding fashion outfits, the audience were thrilled to watch Mr Du Beke, who also hosts BBC gameshow Hole in the Wall, as he bantered on stage with the former That's Life! presenter. The professional dancer, who partnered Miss Rantzen in the second series of Strictly, told Luton Today: "She called me up, and I can't really remember much of the conversation, but it was something to do with models and Esther, so I said I'd come along."
Miss Rantzen said: "I'm so thrilled that Anton has come to support me and all those luscious Luton ladies and I hope to do them proud tonight."
Mandy Aristodemou, owner of Eleni's, said she had been more than happy to help when Miss Rantzen asked her to be involved in the show. "We've had an absolutely fantastic response from our customers," she said. "Having Anton here has really pulled the crowds in."
